Bird

From shrouded perch
     a figure; a lurch.

His eyes insist;
     caterwauling discs

Held in feathered frame
     Concealing his name.

'Til abysmal beak
     Turns to speak:

"Cast your cares,
    Protect said heirs."

His edict expelled
    and duty upheld.

His flight again taken
     Leaves subject soundly shaken.

For chirps and chimes
     Render broken paradigms.

  1. Really like this one. I feel like you could write lyrics for the band 'mewithoutYou.' All their songs are basically abstract poems.

  2. this was sort of a silly one. i was watching tv and we have an artificial plant next to it, i had put the plush bluejay that i got from graduation in there months ago, and it caught my eye...it looked like it was staring right at me from its place nestled in the plastic leaves. i've been trying to describe regular experiences or a single image in other ways, sometimes is interesting for perspective.
